Tips on How to Plan Your Pregnancy - Pregnancy Checklist

To give your pregnancy the best possible start, it's wise to prepare ahead. Ideally you and your husband should plan for pregnancy at least three months before you conceive. So here are a few things that you need to ask yourself to better plan your pregnancy.

Are you on the pill?

It's best to stop taking the pill before you want to conceive. This gives time to your body to return to its normal cycle. Be patient and wait for a few menstrual periods before trying to become pregnant.

What is your weight?

Your weigh should be normal for your height for at least half year before conceiving. You should consult your doctor to achieve the normal weight if you are over weight or under weight.

Do you have a healthy lifestyle?

You'll have better chance of conceiving and a healthy baby if you have a healthy diet. Thus you should have a healthy diet with a lot of fresh food and do plenty of exercise. If you smoke or drink, you must also stop smoking and drinking immediately.

Do you work in a safe environment?

If you or your husband has a job that involves working with chemicals, anesthetics, lead, or X-rays, it may affects your chances of conceiving or involves risks to the baby. You should consult your doctor, and consider to move to a safer work environment.

Do you have medical condition?

You must consult your doctor if you have medical disorder such as high blood pressure, epilepsy, or diabetes.

Do you or your husband have a family history of inherited disease?

Several medical conditions are inherited. To name a few, there are diabetes, high blood pressure, and hemophilia. If you or your husband has a close family with an inherited disease, there's a chance that your baby may inherit this disease. So consult with your doctor to asses the risk.
